Heart Pain

Just the thought
the bare image alone
sickens me and turns my stomach inside out.
It’s worse than pain
worse than physical pain
but what does it feel like?
What does a broken heart feel like?
Feels like holding your breath for too long,
Feels like putting your head under the water in the bath tub for too long,
Feels like staying out in the sun for too long...extreme sun burn.
Just imagine all that pain, but on the inside of your body;
on your heart, brain, veins.
Feels like death.
You can't smile any more
you lock yourself in a room
you speak to no one...
barely eat and barely sleep
or you may sleep too much.
You can't stop crying,
and asking yourself "why?"
You are out of sync with yourself and everything around you.
You thought you were perfect.....
You want no one else, you beg, you pled,
you get rejected...
It's just so unreal
that being detached from another person
can do so much harm...
